When they run the story, write in again but as a different person explaining how the witnesses have a Do Not Call list. Most of the public don't know about this and I'm sure they'd rather not be called on in most cases.

(i wrote this to intentionally sound like a concerned hick... it is jacksonville you know!).
i've recently had an issue come to my attention that causes me some concern.
i've lived in the same neighborhood in north jax for almost 15 years.

i used to tell what i thought was secret information that i had heard from bethelites and c.o.
's and long-time elders, things that i honestly believed.. here are two of them:.
i used to say that ray franz was invited to brooklyn bethel for the funeral when fred franz died, since he is his nephew.
I heard more than once that, "The top ten most intelligent people in the world are in Jehovah's organization." Or something similar to that.
Talk about completely contradicting Jesus! He said:
(Matthew
11:25)25 At that time Jesus said in response: "I publicly praise you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and intellectual ones and have revealed them to babes.(Luke
10:21)21 In that very hour he became overjoyed in the holy spirit and said: "I publicly praise you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have carefully hidden these things from wise and intellectual ones, and have revealed them to babes. Yes, O Father, because to do thus came to be the way approved by you.I think there are some very intelligent JWs but they are not getting to use their brains. They constantly have to switch their brains off in order not to go completely cuck-coo with all the unexplained questions

He said that in the Bible account of David refusing to kill Saul when he had the opportunity, that shows we should never judge the anointed, even if they leave the truth. Even at MTS they made a similar point about disfellowshipped anointed and how we shouldnt judge them.
What a bunch of horse crap! I mean, haven't they already judged the person in order for them to have been DF!!!
ya a beautiful fall day here....trees ablaze with color...and a slight drizzle...me sippin yummy coffee...wife crammin her bookstudy book, then off to meeting and service........god she dresses up a lot!....i fogot how much i did that.....i have about $2000,00 of suits getting dusty in my closet if anybody needs a 42 long btw......so i just asked myself and sooo wanted to ask my wife "why are you really going out in service today?
".......and there are many automatic jw answers:.
1. jesus said we must go and make disciples, and it is the loving thing to do..........2. because the time is short and have to save as many as possible......3. because we love our neighbors ( but i cant frikin have them over for a grillout!).........
The cong I was in must have been a bunch of total freaks. Most of them geuninely want a BS and do all they can to get one, many even have one or more. They count their time the proper way, ie when they knock on the first door and don't count any breaks or anything. And I was like that too. I never fluffed my numbers and remember being completely shocked when I heard about pioneers in the UK buying hours from each other! So naive!
recently an elder called to see me and gladring - more social than scriptural meaning we had a "chat" but he wasn't being overly preachy.. anyway, a bit in to the conversation he said something about cleansing of the org and about ray franz in the 70s.
then he said something about some wt articles from that time weren't right yet got published, like as if ray or his "apostate" cronies ran their own agendas thru them or something.
has anyone else heard anything like this?
Good point, Blondie. But don't you think this is just another game of theirs? Rumours circulate, from whatever source, but they can deny the accuracy if they like coz it was never in writing. They have it both ways, don't they?! Grrr...

I know his son-in-law quite well and he reckons that this elder is open and honest, at least more so than most.
You're right it would be interesting to call him on it though. Gladring did that to an elder once in front of the CO. Was so funny to see him backtrack as fast as he did. Lost all faith in that guy that day. . .

Hi Lance,
I've got Ray's books so I'll have a look.
Thanks for the references. Can't say I'm bothered reading all of the James book but I'll look up the others.
Thanks,

Has anyone else heard anything like this? I have no idea what articles he is talking about as his comment surprised me enough that I didn't ask for further clarification.
Btw, this same elder also said he felt that the 144,000 number was off as he reckons there were far more than that amount called between 33CE and now. Pretty open-minded for an elder I thought.

just been having a flick through the dec 15 & jan 15 jw only watchtowers.
(and no - i dont know how to pdf them or anything else!).
unusually there isnt a single mention glorifying the fads - in fact , jehovahs channel or any other similar expression isnt referenced at all (other than a single scriptural reference in the review of revelation in the dec 15th issue.).
I still haven't been given my Jan 15! I've been asking for it for about 6 weeks now. Must find out what the problem is. I don't see what right they have to withold it from me.
Sounds like it'll make interesting reading...
over breakfast, my wife and i discussed the feeling of distance between us.
i haven't kept her for going to meetings or anything of the sort.
yet, since i've left the organization - she has been more distant from me.
I can totally understand why your wife is angry. When I was in a position similar to where she is now, I felt a lot of anger. I also felt betrayed because I had done the right thing of "marrying only in the Lord" and then Gladring left. So I was married to an unbeliever even though I'd married a believer. Very unfair, I felt.
The comments of the ladies who've posted on this thread has hopefully given you some insight on how your wife feels. Use this. Go to her and say, "Honey (or whatever pet name you call her), I know me leaving the JWs has been and is really tough for you. I know you must feel angry/hurt/betrayed etc. I get that and I'm here for you if you wanna talk about it at some stage." That will make her feel acceptance from you and also allows her to be the one to chose when and if to talk about it in more detail.

You must slowly erode the hold they have over her. If you challenge directly, she will dig in her heels. Go the opposite way. Clean up while she is gone to meetings. Make it more pleasant to be home with you. Little things, like some wildflowers or just a piece of candy on the pillow will show her you care.
I totally agree with this. Gladring used to do a lot of chores when I was at the meeting and it meant I had no choice but to be in a good hunour when I got back! Going to the meeting alone and sitting thru it like a single person or someone with a UBM was very difficult and did often put me in a very bad mood. But when I came home and Gladring was happy and the house looked well, then the mood lifted and didn't carry on.
